The Dubai Fountain: Larger than Life Spectacle

Downtown Dubai is truly an enjoyable place to visit with its multitude of shopping, dining and entertainment options. What makes the lively destination even more distinct is the majestic Dubai Fountain, situated on the 24-acre Burj Lake. The fountain was designed by California-based company WET, the same group behind Las Vegas’ Fountains of Bellagio, and inaugurated in May 2009. With over 6,600 WET Superlights, 25 colour projectors and water jets that can shoot up to 450 feet up (as high as a 45-storey building), the Dubai Fountain is known as the world’s largest dancing fountain today.

See the daily shows by picking a good spot at the Dubai Mall’s Waterfront Promenade or by the entrance of Souk al Bahar. Cafés and restaurants surround the Dubai Fountain so spectators can comfortably marvel at this one-of-a-kind water performance whilst having a sumptuous meal.

Shows start at 1:00 and 1:30 in the afternoon (except on Fridays) followed by continuous evening shows every 30 minutes from 6:00 pm. The Dubai Fountain comes to life to the tune of local and foreign music such as Sama Dubao, the award-winning Swahili hit Baba Yetu, top-grossing Arabic dance hit Shik Shak Shok, world-famous Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli’s Con te Partiro and Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You, among other popular songs from around the world.

The Dubai Fountain is definitely a refreshing visual treat so don’t forget to bring your camera to capture this special moment with your family and friends.
