Umm Al Quwain in UAE City Guide

Umm Al Quwain is one of the quieter areas of the UAE and has the smallest population. It is looking to develop economically and recently unveiled its growth strategy for the next three years with special focus on four key sectors – the general economy, heritage, infrastructure and public sector development.

The emirate established the Ahmed Bin Rashid Free Zone in 1998 within the port and adjacent land to encourage foreign investment. Umm Al Quwain has no airport of its own, but the free zone is situated just 55 kilometres from Dubai International Airport. It offers 100% foreign ownership and promises company formation in just three to four days.

Despite its many and natural landscape and wildlife attractions, international tourism is not highly developed in Umm Al Quwain, but it is popular with visitors from the region. A major attraction is Dreamland, which is the country’s largest water park and attracts visitors from around the UAE. The emirate also offers the Marine Club, and the Umm Al Quwain Aeroclub, a renowned centre for skydiving. There is also a motor racing club, which hosts regular motorbike and car racing events, on and off road.
