Disinfectants
We stock a wide range of disinfectants in the form of tablets, solutions and wipes. They include
1) HazTabs disinfection tablets: Guest Medical Haz-Tabs are formulated using NaDCC, and when used with the appropriate diluter provide a safe, efficient and simple method to make up a correct strength chlorine solution for effective environmental disinfection.
2) HazTab Granules: Haz-Tab granules will absorb the spill, (thus safely containing it) and at the same time release chlorine to disinfect it. They contain NaDCC(Troclosene sodium) a poweful chlorinating agent, which is a more effecient disinfectant of body fluids than hypochlorite and is proven effective against bacteria, fungi and viruses. NaDCC granules are recommended by the Department of Health for the disinfectionof blood and blood-stained body fluid spills and, in addition, have been shown to be preferred by ward nursing staff because of their simplicity and ease of use.
3) Chlor Clean Tablets: The Chlor-CleN SOLUTION PRODUCES 1,000 p.p.m. available chlorine, as recommended by the DoH and HPA1. It is now established as the product of choice in many U.K. hospitals for Terminal Cleaning, Isolation Cleaning and Outbreak Cleaning. It has been shown to be an invaluable aid during outbreaks of hospital infection, including norovirus and Clostridium difficile outbreaks.
4) Alcohol Surface Wipes: Giest Medical alcohol surface wipes are manufactured using lint-free shelag fabric impregnated with 70% isopropanol.
They provide raid and simple disinfection of electrical apparatus, equipment and other surfaces in clinical areas that may be damaged by water or the chemicals contained in other disinfectants.
70% alcohol is a proven disinfectant, effective against all vegetative bacteria, including Mycobacteria, MRSA, VRE, ESBLs and Acinetobacter spp. However its action against viruses is considered to be variable and it will not kill bacteria or fungal spores.
5) Chlor Clean Wipes: Chlor-Clean wipes can be used both for blood & blood-stained body fluid spills as well as general environmental disinfection. Placing the wipe directly onto spill (up to 30ml) will both absorb the moisture and the disinfect with 10,000 ppm strength available chlorine. This makes Chlor-Clean wipes the first wipe product to comply with DoHI guidance for dealing with blood and blood-stained body fluid spills and will be of particular help to busy ward stuff for dealing with small spills and minor accidents.
6) NQ64 Concentrate is a new wide-spectrum, neutral pH, hard surface disinfectant. When used as directed it has been proven to deliver effective biocidal activityagainst a comprehensive range of bacteria, fungi and viruses.
