A flow meter is the equipment that is used to measure the flow rate or amount of fluid passing through a pipe. The flow meter typically measures the velocity of the fluid in the container or pipe with respect to the area of the container or pipe and calculates the flow rate. The fluids that are usually measured using flow meters are oil, gas, effluent discharges, and wastewater monitoring.
