About Cctv

CCTV refers to closed circuit television that is used in surveillance and security operations. These systems have become a need rather than a want in today's world as they not only help survey an area but also provide concrete evidence in the event of a crime. CCTV cameras are highly reliable, efficient and secure as they transmit only from point to point or multipoint to point. This type of transmission does not allow unauthorized personnel to view the footage. CCTV systems are built with an internal memory that is designed to store recorded footage of thirty days, however, there are high-end CCTV systems that can store recorded footage of two years. If the systems' memory reaches full capacity the footage gets automatically erased giving space to new footage.

Older CCTV systems were equipped with low resolution black and white monitors and cameras with poor quality. Modern CCTV equipment comes with high-resolution monitors and cameras which can capture in low lighting conditions. These CCTV cameras come with a load of built-in features such as high-resolution capture, motion detection capture, face recognition, remote zoom, thermal imaging etc. They are equipped with varifocal lenses, wireless transmission technology, infrared detection sensor, night vision filter etc. There are three common types of CCTV cameras which are fixed cameras, Pan tilt zoom cameras (PTZ) and 360-degree cameras. These cameras are also classified according to their housing. They find a wide range of security applications and military applications. They can be mounted on military drones and other military vehicles. Most closed-circuit television cameras are waterproof in nature and can be used outdoors. They can be enclosed within large protective plastic shield which is designed to protect the camera lens from damage. By using this protective shields the cameras will remain undamaged event at extreme climatic conditions.

Closed circuit cameras offer secure access to users as they transmit signals through a single secure loop for enhanced protection. They also allow users to enhance the security by using access control software systems to streamline access to one specific system. They are found in a wide range of applications which include X-ray baggage inspection device, remote viewing or industrial processes, rocket lift-offs, perimeter security, military installations, warehouses, police stations and other similar facilities. They are used in intrusion and theft monitoring of secure spaces for both indoors and outdoors.

Closed circuit television cameras are robust in design and can be installed in small spaces and can provide visuals in hard to access areas or hazardous environments. Police personnel install surveillance cameras and pan tilt zoom cameras atop traffic signals to capture accidents and set up in alleyways which are prone to criminal activity. Some CCTV cameras are equipped with an inbuilt face recognition software which helps law enforcement agencies with identifying wanted personnel.
