About Blinds
Blinds are used to cover windows and protect the inside from harmful sunlight or UV rays. They come in a wide variety of designs and different types of colours. They are made up of several long horizontal slats which comprise of wood, plastic and metal which are bound together by chords which run through the blind slats. Window blinds are controlled by either manually or by using a remote control. They come in different shades of attractive colours like honeycomb shade, navy blue, rainbow shade or nightshade. Blinds are generally made up of plastic, fabric, metal or wood. They can be ready-made or made to measure and can be designed to suit different window sizes. Ready-made blinds are manufactured in different set sizes which are cut down to suit different windows. There are six types of ready made blinds which are roller, Roman, Pleated, Venetian, Shoji and vertical. They can be rotated from an open position to a closed position with the help of a chord. Metal blinds are commonly used in corporate offices as they can protect against theft, external temperature, glare or fire accidents. In olden days window, blind stoppers were used to prevent them from closing.
Horizontal blinds are designed with a thin woven ladder system which suspends the slats and allows them to get closed or opened using a rotating drum. It is also equipped with a lift chord which ensures that the curtain can be pulled up and stacked on the top of the window when not in use. They are best suited for hotels, resorts, homes and recreation centres. Vertical blinds are designed with wide slats which are bound together on one side and rotated using a rotating shaft present in the upper headrail housing. They are easy to operate and are well suited for industrial and corporate establishments.
Window blinds are also known as Roman blinds, Roller blinds, plantation shutters, slated curtains or jigsaw shutters. Holland blinds and woven-wood blinds are designed with small spaces between the slats for decorative purposes. The ones with pleated shades have no spaces between the slats as they are sewn inside the fabric. Wooden blinds are made up of faux wood, teak wood, pinoleum or rosewood. They are also known as Venetian blinds and are typically joined together with chorded pulleys. They give a natural look to your building and provide maximum privacy.
