About Busway

A busway can be used in both commercial and industrial applications as well as in indoor and outdoor applications. They are delivered and assembled by electrical contractors in large sections for easier connection and support. A plug-in busway system consists of disconnected switches which allow other devices to get mounted on the system. In this manner, it can be used to distribute power throughout the building. It is a popular type of system which is highly useful for other similar appliances as well.

The feeder busway is used to interconnect different systems between a transformer and a switchgear line up. The variant type low impedance busway is best suited to address low voltage drops as they are used to reduce inductive resistance to a considerable extent. Each section of a busduct can be connected together easily and the current is distributed in a well-balanced manner. A Busduct is also known as a busway which is used for power distribution. They consist of a sheet metal duct which is made up of aluminium or copper. They are best suited to conduct current and electricity through large sections. Busways consist of a bare copper conductor which is supported with an inorganic insulator mounted inside a non-ventilated steel housing.

A Busbar is used in electrical power distribution and is enclosed within bus ducts. It is a metallic strap housed inside switchgear, panel boards or busway enclosures for effective high current power distribution. In electric switch yards, busbars are used to connect switch bars to high voltage equipment. They are used to connect low voltage equipment to battery banks. Most busbars are not insulated and are relatively stiff in design so that they can be supported by insulated pillars.

Electrical busbars are conductors or a group of conductors which are used to extract electric power from a source. They distribute stored current from one source to another and converge power to a specific location as well. A busbar system consists of an isolator and a circuit breaker which can be tripped off and easily disconnected from the circuit. They come in three different shapes which are rectangular, cross-sectional and spherical. Rectangular busbars are used in main power systems due to their shape. They can be arranged in different ways in the power grid and a section of them can be enclosed within a busduct and connected to a busway. They can be arranged in a simple manner without affecting their performance. Busbars and bus ducts are easy to install and are relatively cheap.

Busducts require minimal maintenance as they do not wear out easily. A busduct segment can be fit in an internal factory firestop for enhanced performance. Busduct manufacturers penetrate busbars between the fire separations which have a fire resistant rating. They comprise of innards which display plastic wrappings of sandwiched busbars which are separated by hollow plastic tube spacers. An individual busbar wrapping is used to enclose a busway circuit. Busways are designed to flare out connections to the next segment from the connection source. Some popular locations to find busways in Dubai are Sheikh Zayed road, Jumeriah, Al Abraj Street, Al Maktoum street, Business village, Karama, Deira clock tower, Al Hawai tower and Al Safa 2.
