About Water Treatment

Water treatment is the process of improving the quality of water for day to day use. Treated water can be used for irrigation, drinking, industrial use, river flow maintenance, swimming pools and other similar activities. This process is conducted in large water treatment plants which can filter large amounts of water at a short period of time. Treatment plants use high-grade equipment to remove harmful contaminants from water and produce pure water which is fit enough for consumption. Water in rivers, lakes and ponds are not fit for consumption or industrial or household usage, so it must be processed and purified using suitable methods. Purified water is free of contaminants and does not pose any short term or long term risks on consumption. Untreated water contains contaminants such as suspended solids, bacteria, algae, viruses, fungi and even harmful minerals such as iron or manganese. Water treatment plants use physical, chemical and biological methods to remove contaminants. They use physical processes such as sedimentation, filtration and screening. Chemical processes include disinfection, coagulation, chlorination and PH balancing. Some water treatment systems are designed to use slow sand filtration which is a biological process of anti-contamination.

Companies which provide water treatment services analyse the PH level of the untreated water, gauge the acidic level and the contaminants present in it. They also understand the purpose of use and where it is distributed after treatment. They also take precautionary measures to prevent bacterial and algal growth and ensure that there are no contaminants present in the water treatment machine. They also take measured to keep residual disinfectants away from the treated water as it could cause more harm to the user. They use different types of bacteriological anti contaminants and antibacterial solutions to get rid of disease-causing germs such as E coil, malaria, dengue etc. Companies incorporate different types of pest control methods to get rid of harmful pests such as rodents, mosquitoes, bogs and other water-borne insects. The water treatment methods need to comply with the standards set by the world health organization to improve water quality and incorporate new methods for water treatment.

Water treatment plants use a combination of different methods for effective water treatment. The pre-chlorination method is the process of terminating the growth of algae and other biological growth. By using the process of aeration harmful dissolved minerals such as iron and manganese can be removed. In the process of coagulation, polyelectrolytes are used to quicken the process of slow sand filtration. Sedimentation is done to remove heavy solid particles present by trapping them on the floor. The final process of water treatment is filtration, in this process the treated water is passed through a sand belt of a semi-permeable membrane which can be washed and reused. Turbidity and particles can be removed by the process of coagulation, sedimentation or granular filtration. Major dissolved inorganic contaminants can be removed by the process of aeration, softening or using porous membranes. Harmful disease-causing pathogens can be removed by the process of filtration, sedimentation or disinfection. Major dissolved organic materials can be removed by using membranes or by the natural process of adsorption.

Companies provide different types of water treatment services such as polluted water treatment, industrial water treatment, domestic water treatment, desalination, portable water purification and distilled water production or ultrapure water production. In the process of wastewater treatment, highly contaminated water is purified by using advanced filtration and treatment techniques to convert wastewater to potable water. This is also known as water reclamation. Some popular locations to get in touch with companies which provide water treatment services in Dubai are Deira, Sheikh Zayed road, International city, Al Shafar Investment Building, Al Garhoud, Al Quoz industrial area 2, Al Nahda Steet and Al Quasis.
