About Sandwich Panels
Sandwich panels are widely used in the building construction. They are thin and rigid deep profile materials with external facings which have a soft thick core. It is commonly used for a wide range of roof cladding applications and other external cladding applications. Sandwich panels are constructed by placing a low-density core between two aluminium or zinc sheets. They are widely used in aircraft designing, building construction, automobile designing and commercial building designing. They are prefabricated products which can be used as building envelopes as do not allow external heat to penetrate through.
Sandwich panel designers combine a high-quality product which is very flexible in design and energy efficient. They pack them carefully in polypropylene boards to prevent wear and tear. Designers provide an site installation service which helps clients install the panels on site according to their requirement. Sandwich panels are also known as composite panels or structural insulating panels due to their design. Sandwich panel manufacturers deal with designing and supplying structural insulated panels, aluminium composite panels, flat panels and coil coated composite panels. Structural insulated panels are designed with an insulating layer of a rigid core which is sandwiched between two layers of a structural board. This can be used in building materials as they are highly useful for other materials. The boards which sandwich the core together are made up of plywood, sheet metal, magnesium oxide, oriented stand board, polystyrene foam, extruded polystyrene foam and other similar materials. They share the same structural properties as an I beam or I column. The rigid insulation core acts as a web to bind the panel in an integral manner.
Sandwich panels are tested by sandwich panel designers by analysing their behaviour after manufacturing. They are arranged with deep profiled steel face sheets on both the top and the bottom. These face sheets are bent and compressed to be tested. Aluminium composite panels are used for both internal and external cladding applications. They are commonly used to design false ceilings, signage, machine coverings, container construction and much more. Aluminium composite sandwich panels are preferred by the signage industry as an alternative to heavier and more expensive substrates. Due to their sturdy design, they are best suited for transient structures such as trade show booths and temporary structures. They are also found in backing materials for mounting fine art and photo frames. They are less expensive, flexible and cost-efficient.
Sandwich panels are known for their characteristic design. They have a thermal resistance of 0.024W/(m-K) for polyurethane and 0.05 for mineral wool. The resistance of the material depends on the U values of the core and the overall thickness of the panel. Installing this system greatly minimizes the formation of thermal bridges. Some sandwich panels are insulated with acoustic material which reduces noise by 25 to 30 decibel. Sandwich panels can support walls which are 11 meters in height. Their thickness ranges from 40 mm to more than 200 mm depending on its design. The density of the panel ranges between 10 kg/m2 to 35 kg/m2.
