About Waste Management

Waste management is the process of collecting, sorting, disposing and recycling waste on a large scale. It saves the environment and conserves energy used in producing raw materials or products. It follows a three-step method which is the process of reducing, reuse and recycle accordingly. Companies which provide waste management systems deal with handling different types of waste such as industrial waste, solid waste, liquid waste and hazardous waste. They also provide different types of services such as solid waste collection service, yard collection service, block collection service, waste handling, waste transportation, waste disposal and zero waste service.

Waste management companies collect solid waste, liquid waste, gaseous waste, animal bi-products, biodegradable waste, chemical waste, commercial waste, business waste, biomedical waste and bulky waste. Garbage collectors collect solid waste such as rubbish, demolition products, sewage treatment residue, compost and other synthetic waste. They further sort the waste and send recyclable waste to recycling plants, waste processing plants and manufacturing industries. They provide three different garbage cans which are assigned to collect bio-degradable, non-biodegradable and hazardous waste. In this manner, a lot of time can be saved by sorting waste. Waste collectors collect waste from hospitals, agricultural farms, fisheries, household areas and other commercial establishments. They use garbage collection trucks, garbage collection tricycles and other similar vehicles. They sort municipal solid waste into paper waste, yard waste, metal waste, food waste, plastic and glass. They use protective gloves, protective eyewear and protective clothing to deals with hazardous waste as it can cause skin burns, respiratory problems and deadly diseases. Hazardous waste is disposed or incinerated in landfills which are located in secluded areas. Hazardous waste collectors deal with collecting biomedical waste, highly inflammable waste, nuclear waste, explosive waste and corrosive chemicals. It is disposed in secluded areas or incinerated in chambers as they cannot be recycled. Since nuclear waste is highly radioactive it must be disposed of in very remote areas. Sometimes nuclear waste and radioactive waste is transported through spaceships and disposed of in outer space. Most hazardous waste is collected from industrial sector companies such as chemical paper, pesticide, dye and rubber manufacturing areas and power plants. Some companies provide exclusive waste management services for industrial power plants. Toxic waste also includes sharp waste, pathological waste, pharmaceutical waste, genotoxic waste, chemical waste and radioactive waste.

If solid waste is not collected periodically they tend to accumulate and create unsanitary conditions which could lead to the spread of deadly diseases. Stagnation of liquid waste can lead to diseases like cholera, diarrhoea and other water-borne diseases. If solid waste is not treated properly it can lead to decay which results in a pungent smell. Waste management companies provide different types of garbage bins and install them in residential areas and parks for easier access. Some popular bins include galvanized steel dustbin, paper sack and public garbage cans or dumpsters.

Dumpsters are designed with two hook-able pivots on either side for dump trucks and garbage trucks to collect waste easily. Liquid waste is directed to water treatment plants or collected by sewage collection tanker trucks which carry toxic liquid waste to be expelled in remote areas. Liquid waste is processed in water treatment plants as water can be recycled for future use. Wastewater which is no longer treatable is further filtered and drained into large water bodies such as oceans and seas. Another effective method of waste treatment is the controlled tipping or sanitary landfilling method. There are three types of sanitary landfilling method which is the trench method, ramp method and area method. Some popular locations to get in touch with companies which provide waste management services in Sharjah are near Nati paints building, Industrial area 17, SAIF zone and Industrial area 11.
