About Fishing Boats

Fishing boats that are widely used include all purpose fishing boats, aluminium fishing boats, bass boats, bay or flats boats, bow riders, cabin cruisers, cuddy cabins, sport fishing boats and trawlers. Commercial fishing boats are large vessels which are commonly used in large-scale commercial fishing applications. They are fully equipped with a strong fishing net and a large bait. These nets are made up of reinforced nylon which has a high tensile strength and is relatively large in size. They are also attached to large fishing gear such as mounted drum winches and puretic power blocks. A fishing trawler is a large unique fishing boat which is installed with trawl nets that are used to catch large volumes of fish. There are eight trawlers which are commonly used which are wet fish trawler, freezer trawler, stern trawler, side trawler, pair trawler, beam trawler and outrigger trawlers.

Longliners are troller type fishing vessels which use a single long fishing chord which houses around 1,000 lures. These chords are deployed from the tail end of the vessel where the fish can be stored easily. Another popular type of fishing vessel is the gillnetters which use a large grillnet system that can be operated manually or by using a technologically aided net for better results. These vessels can be easily modified for use in larger fishing operations as they use modern fishing gadgets with a gillnetting technique. Crabbers are large fishing boats which are used extensively for capturing crab and fish. They are also known as fish trap boards and are equipped with unique aids and accessories which help trap crustaceans. Crabbers haul trapping aids using automated windlass for an easier transaction. Trawlers are commonly used in commercial fishing applications and are equipped with large trawler nets which can be suspended using different aids. Trawler fishing boats are used to catch a wide array of fishes in different locations. There are eight different types of trawlers which are outrigger trawlers, beam trawlers, otter trawlers, pair trawlers, side trawlers, stern trawlers, freezer trawlers and wet fish trawlers.

Fishing boats are equipped with seven different types of hulls which include displacement hull, planing hull, flat bottom hull, multihull, deep vee hull, round bottom hull and cathedral hull. Most fishing vessels come with displacement hulls which round in shape. They plough the water out of the way as the boat moves on and reduces energy used in propulsion as it can cut through water easily. This makes the boat stable and ensures a smooth ride. Planning hulls have a flat-bottomed or a V-shaped hull and are faster than boats which use displacement hulls. Smaller fishing boats are equipped with flat bottom hulls which have a shallow draft. These boats are used to perform freshwater fishing operations in small lakes and rivers. However, they are harder to manoeuvre and prone to turn over when making sharp turns.

Recreational fishing boats are relatively small in size and are equipped with small dinghies to charter cruisers. Most fishing boats are made up of wood and other similar material as well. Traditional fishing boats include rafts, dugout canoes and wooden boats. These vessels are covered using a hide or a tree bark right along the crease. Some popular locations to find fishing boats in Sharjah include SAIF zone, Industrial area 14, Rolla and King Faisal road.
