About Plastic Recycling
Plastic Recycling
Plastic recycling is the process of recovering scrap plastic and reprocessing it into a useful product. In this way, the lifespan of plastics is optimized and the pollution caused because of plastic litter is reduced. Plastic is important because business can reduce their destructive waste output and cut costs that are related to waste management. Recycled plastic is used to manufacture products such as clothes, carpet, containers, bottles, plastic lumber, molding materials, grocery bags, and lawn and lumber products.
Plastic recycling is a six-fold process which includes collecting, sorting, shredding, cleaning, melting and making of pellets. Plastic is available is various forms from containers and bottles to plastic bags and plastic packaging materials. Therefore the first process is to collect scrap plastic which is sent to a collecting yard, where they are packed and transported to a plastic recycling plant. At the recycling plant, the different kinds of plastic are sorted based on their resin content and color. Machines are used to sort the different kinds of plastic based on their resin content.
The plastic is then cut into tiny pieces, plastic bottles and containers are shredded into tiny chunks and the heavier kinds of plastic are separated from the lighter plastic because different plastics are used in the manufacture of different products. These pieces are then washed with detergent and all contaminants are removed. When the pieces are dried they are melted down and molded into new shapes. The plastic is melted under a regulated temperature so that it is melted with being destroyed. After the melting process, the plastic is compressed to form tiny pellets. These tiny pellets are called nurdles and can be redesigned to form a new product. King Faisal road in Umm Ul Quwain and Hamriya free zone in Sharjah are some of the most popular locations in UAE to find plastic recycling companies.
