About Garments Arabwear

Garments arabwear in Sharjah are manufactured throughout the region. Both men and women in this region wear unique traditional clothes which sets them apart from other cultures. These clothing include abaya and hijab for women and thawb and sirwal for men. Both men and women cover their heads with pieces of garment, men use takiyah, ghutra and igal for this purpose and women use hijab for covering head and niqab for face. Both men and women wear garments which cover their hands and legs as a protection from heat. In winter both men and women wear woolen scarves and djellaba. Cotton and sheep wool are the common materials used for clothing in Sharjah.
