About Dairies And Dairy Products
Dairies And Dairy Products
Dairies are businesses that deal with the harvesting, processing or both of animal milk for consumption, commonly from camels, cows, llamas, and goats. Dairies usually have their own dairy farms, or multi-purpose farms, where their livestock is taken care of, and milk is harvested. Once the milk is harvested, it is treated using various methods, the most common being pasteurization. The treated milk is then packaged, distributed and supplied, or further processed to produce a range of different milk or dairy products. The most common dairy products we use in our everyday lives include butter, sour cream, cheese, cream, condensed milk, curd, tofu, yogurt, ice cream, etc.. However, pasteurized milk can also be further processed and mixed with additives to produce special types of milk with special characteristics. These special milk like low-fat milk, slim milk, skimmed milk, double cream milk, full cream milk, flavored milk, and so on, are used for various purposes or are preferred by final end consumers.
Fresh Dairy products were not that prominent in the UAE until the 80’s, before which products like milk powder and long life packaged milk and dairy products were used. After the first dairy farm was established in UAE in the early 80’s, fresh milk and fresh dairy products were widely available in provision stores, supermarkets, and food marts. This cause significant increase in the demand for fresh milk products over the available substitutes. With this increase in demand, several other well-known dairy companies came into being, catering to the need of fresh milk and milk products all over UAE. Offices and operational business bases of a few Dairies and dairy product producers in UAE can be found on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai and in other places in UAE like Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Sharjah.
