About Land Surveyors
Land Surveyors
Land surveying is the measuring and mapping of a particular environment using mathematics and specialized technology and equipment such as GPS, Robotic Total Stations (Theodolites), and aerial and terrestrial scanners.Land surveyors would be involved with the measuring properties and pieces of land to determine boundaries. Land surveyors carry out an important task of providing information on boundaries because it helps determine where roads or buildings will be constructed, settles property line disputes, and leads to the creation of maps. The job of a land surveyor is both in the office and in the field.
In the office, Surveyors then use sophisticated software, such as Auto-cad to draft plans and map the onsite measurements. Surveyors work on a diverse variety of projects from land subdivision and mining exploration, to tunnel building and major constructions. They are experts in determining land size and measurement. They also give advice and provide information to guide the work of engineers, architects and developers. Land surveyors would need to qualify and obtain a license before they are employed as surveyors.
