About Piping Systems Usage

Piping systems are fixtures which are installed in a building or structure to enhance the distribution of water through the building effectively. It is a system which comprises of a wide network of pipes which transmit water, liquid or gas. Some popular components used in piping systems are pipes, pipe fittings, flanges, gaskets, bolting, valves and pressure regulators. Pipe designers manufacture different types of pipes such as seamless pipe, welded pipe and forged or bored pipe. They incorporate different methods to weld pipes. They join pipes by using butt weld pipe joints, socket weld pipe joints, screwed pipe joints, flanged pipe joints, spigot-socket pipe joints and much more.

Some piping systems are constructed with seamless pipes which are suitable for high pressure and high-temperature applications. These pipes are best suited for industrial applications as they can transport corrosive chemicals and contaminants. There are two types of welded pipes which are electric fusion welded and electric resistance welded. Fusion-welded pipes designed with a single or double butt weld joint which is subjected to automatic or electric arc welding. Forged and bored pipes are manufactured by the process of blowing and forging them. Most components used in the piping system is designed by connecting different sizes of pipes and attaching different fittings.

Piping system manufacturers use different dimensional standards of pipe fittings such as cast iron pipe flanges, flange fittings, malleable iron threaded fittings and grey iron threaded fittings. Other fitting methods include factory made wrought steel butt welding, forged fitting, socket welding, ductile iron pipe flanges, flange fitting and buttweld fitting. Piping systems are attached with non-metallic, semi-metallic, metallic and dimensional standard gaskets. These gaskets are designed as a semi-plastic material between the flange facings which are used to prevent any type of leakage. Non-metallic gaskets are made up of composite sheet metal materials which are designed with a flat face flanges and fitted to low-pressure class applications. They are made up of a non-asbestos type material such as aramid fibre, glass fibre etc. Semi-metallic gaskets are used for different operations as they work under optimum working conditions of temperature and pressure. Piping systems which are used in industrial applications are fitted with metal gaskets which are suited for high pressure and high-temperature applications. These gaskets are also corrosion resistant in nature.

Piping systems are bolted in different ways to strengthen the connection between pipes. Some commonly used bolting systems include stainless steel fasteners, stud bolts, machine bolts and conventional bolts. Some popular bolting systems include high strength bolting, intermediate strength bolting and low strength bolting. Piping systems are fitted with different types of valves which are used to control the flow and pressure of water. They are classified on the basis of functions such as isolation, regulation, non-return and special. Some examples of isolation valves are gate valve, ball valve, plug valve, piston valve, diaphragm valve, butterfly valve and pinch valve. Some popular types of regulation valves include globe valve, needle valve and piston valve. Some commonly used special purpose valves include multi-port valve, flush bottom valve, float valve, foot valve, line blin valve and pressure relief valve. Some popular locations to find piping systems in Sharjah are Rolla, Nadja Street, Nasser Street, Jamal Abdul Nasser Street, King Faisal road and Industrial area 11.
