Rice in Sharjah

Rice in Sharjah is a favourite staple food of majority of the people in the country. Studies suggest that the per capita consumption of rice in Sharjah is among the highest in the world. The main reason for high rice consumption in the country is probably due to the high density of Asian population in the country. The country has workers and professionals from India, Bangladesh and Philippines, whose staple diet is rice. There are different types of rice available, which includes basmati rice, arborio rice, black rice and glutinous rice. Basmati rice is the most preferred among rice eaters due to its distinctive fragrant flavour and scent.
