About Thermography Inspection

Thermography Inspection

Thermography inspection is also known as infrared inspection which is based on sensing heat emitted from the surface of an object in the form of infrared radiation. Technicians make use of thermal imaging tools which convert infrared radiation into a temperature value or thermal image. This image will help you assess the thermal condition of an object at the time of measurement. Some tools that are used in thermography insepction are infrared cameras and thermal imaging cameras. Thermography can be used to inspect electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, plumbing equipment and pest infestation.

Electrical systems generate heat due to electrical resistance, this heat is detected by infrared cameras. If there is any kind of power surge or leakage of current the camera detects the problem and notifies the inspector. Infrared camera detect high resistance connections as they are prone cause fire due to short-circuit. It can also detect pipeline leakage, water inundation and water seepage. Thermography inspection is conducted by companies who hire technicians and consultants to perform on-site inspection.

There are two methods followed in thermography inspection which are passive thermography and active thermography. Passive thermography is the process of pointing the camera at the object to be inspected. The camera displays a thermal image which constructs a temperature map which exposes any flaw in the object. In active thermography inspection the inspected object is heated rapidly using an external heat source. The inspector observes how the heat dissipates with time and determines any defect in the object. Some popular locations to get in touch with companies which provide thermography inspection services in Abu Dhabi are Musaffah and Electra Street.
