About Sandwich Panels

Sandwich panels are integrated panels which are used as exterior wall claddings in buildings. They are made up of three layers where the low-density core is bonded with a high-density thick layer of aluminium on both sides. They are best suited for high-density applications which are of high structural rigidity. They are also known as composite panels or structural insulating panels. They can also be used as an alternative to facade panels as they are visually appealing. Sandwich panels comprise of a lightweight core which keeps two faces in the correct position to resist shear forces and offer insulation. These faces are durable and offer weather and impact resistance as they resist the in-plane force of tension and compression.

Sandwich composite panels are widely used as an external cladding for single and multi-storey buildings which are prone to face harsh weather conditions. They are used in creating internal envelopes, ceiling panels, partitions and fire resistant compartment walls. Buildings which require sandwich panels are industrial buildings, temporary buildings, storage buildings, clean rooms, agricultural buildings, shopping centres, sports facilities and transport buildings. The outer face of the panel comprises of a hot dipped galvanized steel sheet which is made up of aluminium or zinc. Some other materials that are used to make composite panels are precast concrete, cement board, glass fibre, reinforced polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, magnesium oxide, plywood, oriented strand board and glass reinforced plastic. Cladding systems usually comprise of a rigid polyurethane core which comprises of an expanded polystyrene, extruded polystyrene, mineral wool, modified phenolic foam and honeycomb materials.

Sandwich panels are known for their rigidity, ease of installation, thermal resistance, fire resistance, airtightness, robust design, durability and low maintenance cost. They are also used for low capital cost, low lifetime cost, chemical resistance, biological resistance, lightweight nature, weather resistance, dimensional stability and they are widely available. Composite panels are sprayed with a polyurethane spray foam thereby increasing its structural integrity. Due to its strong design, they can be used as an alternative to the precast concrete cladding. They are widely used in roofing, cold room walling, partition wall, aerospace, mobile homes and modular homes. One popular type of sandwich panel is the structural insulated panel which comprises of two exterior sheathing materials which are adhered to a rigid plastic foam core. Its dimensions range between 300 to 1,200 millimetres in width and 2.5 to 3 metres in width. Insulated panels either comprise of sheet metal, plywood, cement or oriented strand board with a foam which is made up of expanded polystyrene foam or extruded polystyrene foam or a polyurethane foam.

Sandwich panel retailers provide assembly services to clients. They deal with assembling different types of panels such as horizontal wall panels, vertical wall panel and roof sandwich panel. They also supply structural insulated panels, aluminium composite panels, thermal resistant panels, weatherproof panels and much more. Some popular locations to get in touch with sandwich panel retailers in Abu Dhabi are Musaffah, Hamdan Street, ICAD, Tourist club area, Musaffah Industrial area, Liwa Street and Al Safaa tower.
