About Trailer

A trailer is a part of a vehicle which is designed to transport large cargo and freight. It can either be just a frame or a large shipping container mounted on a frame and attached to wheels. Some commonly used doublewides include bicycle trailer, construction trailer, travel trailer, semi-trailer, full trailer, close coupled trailer, motorcycle trailer, livestock trailer and boat trailer. They are also widely used for recreational purposes, such as camping applications. Bicycle trailers are mechanically powered with the help of a motorless wheeled frame which is hooked to a hitch system which is best suited for transporting cargo. This is a conventional old method of transportation which had the capacity to haul goods which weigh up to five hundred kilograms. Bicycle trailers comprise of a frame, axle, wheel, fender and a hitch. They are made up of either steel or aluminium alloy which is assembled by the process of brazing, welding or nuts. Some of them are designed using bamboo or wood which is used in makeshift homes and home-built in trailers which are fastened with glue or nails. Some commonly used bicycle trailers include single wheel trailer, two-wheel trailer, wooden trailer, bike trekking trailer, heavy duty trailer, cargo trailer and passenger trailers.

Electric bike trailers are equipped with an electric propulsion unit which is best suited for fast applications. Construction trailers are mobile homes which can accommodate temporary offices, dining facilities and a comfortable living space. They are used to transport and store building materials which are used for construction projects. Mobile homes are equipped with telephone lines and electrical power outlets to perform better housing operations. Most of them are attached to lavatories that are connected to sewer systems. They can be skid-mounted on trailers, set up on piles and also attached to traditional stick frame construction. Intermodal containers and shipping containers can be redesigned into construction trailers.

Semi-trailers are widely used in logistics operations and hauling goods via road. They are also known as tractor trailers as they are nothing but a combination of a truck and a semi-trailer. The tractor unit is the most important unit of a semi-trailer as it supports a large portion of weight as well. They are equipped with a landing gear which supports the weight of the trailer is uncoupled. They can be completely unmounted and relocated easily due to their accelerated weight. Semi-trailers equipped with two trailer units are known as B-doubles, tandem tractor trailers, tandem rings or simply doubles. They can be connected to a power unit which administers most power based applications on a large scale. They are fitted with two different couplings such as fifth wheel coupling and automatic coupling. The fifth wheel coupling is equipped with a wide coupling plate that is bolted to the chassis which are rested on pivots. Automatic couplings are designed to handle a maximum weight of 11 tonnes. They can be operated easily and the chassis can be locked to the tractor-trailer as this prevents the trailer from slipping off when being reversed. Some popular locations to find trailers in the UAE are Tamouh tower, Marina Square, Reem Island, Musaffah Industrial area, Al Manara building, University Road, Industrial Area 17 Sharjah, Ras Al Khor and Al Aweer.
